This French Onion Dip is super simple, and made from stuff that’s probably in your fridge and pantry right now. Waiting. Hoping that you’ll get it together and whip them into this. Leave the pre-made mixes and dips alone, and make something your family and friends will go crazy for.

French Onion Dip
This dip is like french onion soup and your favorite chip dip met and fell in love.
It is like the packaged kind, but – from real fresh ingredients instead of dehydrated and powdered everything.
The most time-consuming part about this easy appetizer dip is caramelizing the onions. You just can’t rush that. So stick in your earbuds and get your favorite podcast or audiobook going and get to town. If you are a great multi-tasker, you can do this while you are doing dishes or prepping other things – just don’t neglect those poor onions. They are easy to forget about because you cook them on such low heat.
Or, hit the easy button if you have a pellet grill and cook these on your Traeger! My Traeger Caramelized onions are super popular, easy, and are the best caramelized onions I’ve ever had.
When they are done, they’ll look brown and delicious. You can see my post on caramelizing onions on the stovetop: caramelizing onions
How to make French Onion Dip
Once the onions are caramelized, let them cool for a bit and then just mix with the rest of the ingredients. Chill for about an hour, and serve with crackers.
I love using Gourmet Gardens Chunky Garlic stir-in paste for this recipe. If you don’t have that available, feel free to use fresh garlic, or even garlic powder in a pinch.
