How to make Banana Waffles

Preheat

Waffle irons tend to take a while to heat up fully. Make sure to let it preheat for at least 10 minutes before cooking on it.

Mix

Combine the dry ingredients in one bowl. Mix the wet ingredients in another. Mix them together and stir until everything is evenly incorporated.

Cook

Spray a little cooking spray on your iron. Pour about 1/4 cup of batter into the hot waffle iron and cook until golden brown.

Repeat until all are cooked.

Ingredients

  • 2 bananas (1 smashed and 1 sliced for toppings)
  • 1 ½ cups of flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 egg
  • 1 cup of milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla
  • ¼ teaspoon maple extract
  • Maple syrup for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your waffle iron.
  2. In a large mixing bowl mix together the flour, baking powder, sugar, salt and cinnamon.
  3. In another mixing bowl, using a hand mixer, beat the banana, eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and maple extract.
  4. Add the wet mixture to the dry mixture and stir until combined.
  5. Give your waffle iron a small spray of cooking spray.
  6. Pour a quarter cup of batter into the waffle iron. Cook until golden brown.
  7. Top with sliced bananas and maple syrup.
