Chili Cheese Glizzy Tots
You guys have been seeing me post a ton of Blackstone content for years now. I’m such a fan and we use our griddle so often, it was a natural transition for us to start creating recipes for these versatile cooking tools. Recently they added me to their official Blackstone Griddle Crew, which means occasionally their partners in crime flavor send us goodies to try out.
That’s how I finally got my hands on a Slotdog! It had a bit of a viral moment over on TikTok last summer when everyone was doing Slotdog hot dogs on their grills and griddles to much fanfare. Now that I finally got to try one, I can see why. The cross-hatched slices running partially through the hotdog creates more surface area, all kinds of nice crispy edges, and more room to absorb all the toppings you’re going to toss onto it.
I knew some kind of chili cheese combo MUST be attempted, and I have to say that I think this turned out even better than I had hoped.
One excellent thing about this recipe is that it is SO flexible. I happened to have made a big pot of Venison Chili the day before I made this, and it was perfect to top our loaded tots with. If you don’t have any leftover chili available, canned chili will also work in a pinch. Hit that easy button. I won’t tell. 😉
What’s a “glizzy”?
This is teen slang for “hot dog”. I’m using it liberally here, since technically Little Smokies, which are what I used, are mini smoked sausages.

Chili Cheese Glizzy Tots
Ingredients
- 16 ounces frozen tater tots
- 1 tablespoon taco seasoning
- 16 ounces little smokies
- 6 cups chili hot
- 6 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your pellet grill or oven to 425°F. Season the tots with your taco seasoning, and bake until they are golden brown and crisp, turning occasionally to ensure even crispiness.
- On a separate pan, put your little smokies on it. Bonus points if you use your Slotdog slicer to cut the smokies first. (It seriously brings this up a notch and allows all the chili and cheese to seep inside the mini smokies!
- Cook the smokies for about 7-8 minutes or until they are starting to develop some color on the outside and are sizzling.
- Add 3 cups of the shredded cheese on top of the crispy tots. Put the smokies on top of that layer of cheese.
- Top that with hot chili, and top the chili with the remaining cheese.
- Throw the whole thing back into the oven or smoker and cook until the cheese is melty.
- Remove and enjoy!
